【Overview】
At our clinic, we understand that traveling abroad for medical care can feel overwhelming—especially for patients living with lymphedema.
For this reason, we design clear, well-paced treatment schedules that allow international patients to receive safe, comprehensive care within an approximately two-week stay in Japan.
During this period, patients may undergo:
・A detailed medical consultation with the physician
・Intensive guidance on conservative lymphedema therapy by specialized therapists
・Lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) surgery, when appropriate
・Postoperative wound checks and follow-up therapy instruction
Below is an example of how your visit may be structured.
🗂️ Example Schedule (Pattern 1)
Day 1 – Medical Consultation
You will have a comprehensive consultation with the physician to review your medical history, current condition, and previous examinations.
Based on this assessment, an individualized treatment plan will be discussed.
Day 2 – Conservative Therapy Instruction
A certified lymphedema therapist will provide detailed guidance on compression therapy, skin care, and daily self-management.
This session is tailored to your condition and lifestyle.
Day 4 – Preoperative Visit & Therapy Review
You will attend a preoperative outpatient visit and receive additional therapist-led instruction to optimize your condition before surgery.
Day 7 – LVA Surgery
If surgery is indicated, lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) is performed under local anesthesia.
This is a day-surgery procedure, and hospitalization is not required.
Day 8 – Postoperative Wound Check
Your surgical site will be carefully examined to ensure proper healing and safety.
Day 9 – Postoperative Conservative Therapy Instruction
Therapists will guide you on postoperative compression and daily care, helping you transition safely back to normal activities.

This flexibility allows us to coordinate care according to your travel plans and medical needs while maintaining the same level of attention and safety.

If you have questions about scheduling, travel timing, or treatment options, we are always happy to assist you.
Q1. How long do I need to stay in Japan for treatment?
A.
In most cases, we design the treatment plan to fit within an approximately two-week stay in Japan.
During this period, patients can receive medical consultations, conservative therapy guidance, and—when appropriate—LVA surgery and postoperative follow-up.
Q2. What treatments are included during the two-week stay?
A.
Depending on your condition, your schedule may include:
A detailed medical consultation with the physician
Intensive instruction in conservative therapy (compression, skin care, self-management)
Lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) surgery under local anesthesia, if indicated
Postoperative wound checks and follow-up therapy guidance
All treatments are planned carefully to avoid unnecessary physical stress.
Q3. Is surgery always performed during my visit?
A.
No.
Surgery is performed only if it is medically appropriate and agreed upon after evaluation.
Some patients may focus on strengthening conservative therapy alone, while others may proceed with surgery.
Q4. Is LVA surgery performed under general anesthesia?
A.
No.
LVA surgery at our clinic is performed under local anesthesia as a day-surgery procedure.
Hospitalization is not required, and patients can return to their accommodation on the same day.
Q5. Why are there multiple sessions with therapists?
A.
Conservative therapy is a cornerstone of lymphedema management.
By providing therapy instruction before and after surgery, we help patients:
Optimize their condition before treatment
Recover safely after surgery
Continue appropriate self-care after returning home
Q6. What happens after surgery?
A.
After surgery, we schedule:
A wound check to ensure proper healing
Additional therapy instruction tailored to your postoperative condition
These steps help ensure safety and support long-term management.
Q7. Can the schedule be adjusted to my travel plans?
A.
Yes.
The schedule shown is a sample.
Actual appointment dates and timing are adjusted based on your medical condition, test results, and travel plans.
Q8. What if I decide not to have surgery?
A.
That is completely acceptable.
In such cases, the focus of your stay will be on:
Medical evaluation
Education and optimization of conservative therapy
Our approach does not favor surgery over non-surgical treatment.
Q9. Will I be able to travel home safely after treatment?
A.
In most cases, yes.
Because LVA is a minimally invasive day procedure, patients are generally able to travel after appropriate postoperative evaluation and guidance.
Individual recommendations will be provided based on your condition.
Q10. What is the main purpose of this structured schedule?
A.
The goal is to:
Avoid rushed or unsafe treatment
Provide clear explanations and sufficient recovery time
Offer the most appropriate treatment option for each individual patient
We aim to make your treatment experience as safe and reassuring as possible.
